Jusy amazing, guys.

I wish I had a tenth of the dedication (not to mention the skill) of
you guys. What you have done to expand on this game is just fantastic,
I was just beginning to loose the thrill of this sim when you guys
come along and extend it life in such a cool way.

I think the coolest feature is also the way you have made such that we
can play either sim (original and FAI GT) without any interuption of
the other. In that form its just like being given a brand new sim (for
free)!!!

many thanks again and glowing rerports from a happy user, and I am
sure i speak for many others too.

Me too! I only downloaded it today, and it rocks. The sound of
the ferrari is nothing short of incredible and nearly blew my
speakers. Keep it up, folks! Great work.

Cheers,

Uwe

I agree that it's a good piece of work. Just a few minor flaws that may
deserve attention in a next release (?) of the MOD:

- bad values for the TV***pit view
- carsound files for Porsches have to be renamed before they work
- cars disappearing too soon again (on my pc anyway, I had to edit the
LODout values for each separate carset)
- no Monaco! ...probably for valid reasons, but still too bad :(

Yeah I know, blame me for nitpicking, I'm guilty. ;)

  shouldn't matter if you are in the***PIT where you belong...not nosing
along the roof...heheh

  yup they missed that.
  DGF had a fix that was supposed to be less cpu/graphic intensive than
messing with the LOD.   Search google for that and you might gain a few fps.
  Hmmmm Big Viper and Monaco....hmmmm  nooothanks!  :)

For the F1 cars, you only need to change the F1CAR.gen file. For the GT mod,
you have to go into the GT vehicles folder and change the .gen file for each
type of car (360, 550, Lister, Porsche, Viper).

In the .gen files, find the lines below (they're at the top of the page):

<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>va.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(0.0)
LODOut=(7.0)
<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>vb.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(7.0)
LODOut=(10.0)
<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>vc.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(10.0)
LODOut=(20.0)
<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>vd.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(20.0)
LODOut=(175.0)

and change them to this:

<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>va.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(0.0)
LODOut=(40.0)
<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>vb.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(40.0)
LODOut=(60.0)
<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>vc.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(60.0)
LODOut=(80.0)
<MAX>    MeshFile=<1234>vd.MTS CollTarget=False HATTarget=False LODIn=(80.0)
LODOut=(500.0)

The car textures will no longer flicker, and you'll see them much farther
down the track.

I'm gonna try this out. Right now, I've (only) changed all 'vd' values to
LODOut=(1000.0). Maybe that's not the right way, but I read that solution
somewhere. This works, although I must admit I'm struggling with framerates.
I'm running at 1280x1024x32 though, with pretty high in-game settings (P4
1,9Ghz, 512MB RIMM, Radeon 8500). It's a blast on a 21# monitor, and the
Modena sound is fantastic as well!

Do you only edit the <MAX> lines, by the way? Does this also mean you have
to set all cars to MAX detail?

Cheers,

Ice D

At the moment, I'm into the bumper view. Makes the other cars really big,
when you drive near them. It gives the feeling of being out there.

fps.

I will, cheers. (what is DGF..?)

You edit the other lines if you don't run in MAX detail. Just use the same
numbers.

Also, you can set the last number to 200 or 500. Doesn't make a difference
on my system.
