be a screamer.  On the bargain front, you should be able to pick up a
Diamond Monster 3d for a song ..  see http://www.pricewatch.com for some
pricing comparisions ...

BTW, I have a DM3D and love it ..

I bought a DM3D, and tried to run it with a Rendition Intense 3D 100.
All the software/drivers installed properly, and the DirectX control
panel said that the 3dfx drivers were certified.  When I start CART:PR,
everything's cool until it drops you in the car.  At this point, my
machine locks up.  Does the same thing for the 3dfx games/demos that
come with the card.

The DM3D box was missing the pass-thru cable (opened box = discount
at Best Buy) so I had 'em throw in a monitor extension cable.

Any thoughts out there?

get the monster or the orchid righteous. both have same performance so just
buy the one that is cheaper at your computer store.

Well for starters, I'd try getting the correct patch cable -- you never
know, something electrical (w/the cable) could be a problem...  Maybe
the cable you have has more or less resistance or maybe it's got a
different type of shielding or maybe the length of the cable affects it
...

You can call Diamond at 800-468-5846 -- Select option 3 (you don't want
tech support, you want to speak to a customer service rep -- they can
just send you the cable)...

Good luck !

I can't speak of F1RS ...  But normally, no ..  It's well known and
documented that D3D is very "heavy" and robs performance vs programming
in GLIDE or even for Open GL ...  It's also apparantely much more
difficult (I wouldn't  know personally, have compiled anything except a
sub sandwich in a few years).  I read once where it took a progammer
over 1000 lines of code using d3d to do something that they could do in
about 8 lines of code under GLIDE ...

So you can see why it would be slower.
