I know this is a sim newsgroup.  But I just had to post a message
regarding the Indy 500.  After trying to watch the race for the last
three days, I just finished watching the tape.  What a joke!  The race
reminded me of some of the Kart races I've been in.  What a bunch of
amatures!  They couldn't even get a decent race start.  Even USAC
didn't know what they were doing.  Tony's idea of giving the low
budget racer a chance to win is a farce.  As evidenced by the big
money team and experienced racers finishing one and two.  The whole
race weekend was a joke.  I hope Tony gets the message.  Let the big
boys back in and use the IRL as a support league.

Just my opinion,
Karter

Kind of like the CART US 500 last year, don't you think?

..Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but you should do a little more
research before ranting too long.  Treadway is a pauper compared to the most
destitute CART, or Kart it's all the same, owner.  Compare this race historically
to past races and you will see that it was similar in many many ways.  The number of cars
still running, cars on the lead lap, yellows, crashes....  The only thing that was
somewhat dissimilar was the amount of competition between the leading cars.
Only a handful of times historically did four or five drivers have a legitimate
chance at winning the biggest prize in auto racing.  Don't let your emotions over-shadow
reality.  This was one of the BEST 500's in quite some time!!

I live within a half hour's drive of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and
if the size of the crowds this year were an accurate indication, a whole
lot of people agree with you. Although no official figures were released
by the IMS--they never are--all the expert observers in the media gauged
the first day qualifying and race day crowds as the smallest they'd ever
seen. I'm convinced most people are aware that Tony George's "reforms" are
nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to esablish himself as the "Bill
France" of open wheeled American racing...with all the dictatorial powers
France weided over NASCAR. But the arrogant Mr. George is just wasting his
time, as he no doubt learned this month. I only hope his vanity destroy
the 500 before someome with a little more sense can convince him to throw
in the towel.

Honestly, i respect the ability for indy drivers, but cmon,if i wanted
to drive a toy go kart, i'd go do it, those aren't cars, they're toys. A
car has fenders and bumpers and doors and a roof.....if you want real
e***ment, GO NASCAR! ;)

Just my "opinion" *stifled cackle*

Opinion:  One of the KEY differences is that when  a CART driver
dropped out/blew up it mattered to the racing field.  Now, who cares
if some no-name Joe Shmoe drops out (or wins).

I agree 100 percent. Make sure to voice your opinion everywhere. I did in
the chat room at "Irace" with people that were there. Indy was not meant
to be a dirt track. These are not sprint cars. I do like the normally
aspirated engines, but they should quit taking away ground effects.

Ask people who invnted the modern day indycar. Roger Penske did (I think
he is an S.O.B., but so are most of the multi millionaires in the world).
Ask the ignoramousses who brought the ground effects to indycars. If
people wato race roadsters at indy start a new series. The greatest race
in the world deserves the greatest drivers.

 (snip good stuff)

How about Scott Pruett? Never mentioned but in passing.
. Just does his job. Remember the last lap pass at Laguna
Seca in the corkscrew by Zanardi for the win? Anybody remember seeing
Pruett do the same thing a few seconds later to move up a position?

Gavel
