Momo Questions

by Haqsa » Sun, 18 Nov 2001 02:03:38

Despite my recent bad experience with a GP wheel, I find myself lusting
after the Momo.  I have two simple questions for Momo owners first,
though:

1) There were initially problems with the Momo in GPL, including chatter
on straights, spiking, and incorrect damper levels.  Have these problems
been fixed?

2) Does the Momo use the cheap square plastic pots like the GP wheels,
or the metal "can" style pots used by other wheels?

TIA,
Hal

Check the message board for the 1st question http://www.wingmanteam.com/
I know the pedal pots are metal. I havent taken the wheel apart to check
that.

The software problems have been fixed.

The pots (at least on mine) are metal in the pedals and plastic in steering.

I had difficulty with the brake pedal, missing the squash ball effect on my
MSFF that increases resistance in the last part of the travel. The throttle
felt ok right away.

Some have modified the brake by replacing the spring with a complete squash
ball (soft one, yellow dot), and Logitech has included registry settings for
the modified pedal.

I use a different solution, just fitting a folded piece of the squash ball
between the to plastic ridges in front of the rest for the brake pedal. It
took some fine tuning to get the right resistance, but now the pedal works
great. It still has full travel, and in the last part the squash ball adds
up to the spring giving feedback through the foot that the lock-up zone is
close. The piece of *** sticks out about 1 cm above the rest, and is
lower on the side of the pivot point. I just fitted it in between the two
ridges, no attachment was needed.

If you want to try, the easiest way to open the pedal case is to take a
little box (I used a box with 10 cd's) and turn the case upside down,
resting the far end on the box. Then unscrew the 10 screws and lift the
bottom plate.

I have to disagree. The pedals are a vast improvement over the original LWFF
pedals, so much so that I've retired my CH pedals.
