MOMO question

I did the squash ball modification to the MOMO pedals and it really
helps the feel of the brake pedal.  However I used plain Scotch tape
to hold the squash ball in place while I close and screwed shut the
case.  Now I hear a little crinkle as the tape gets clamped between
the pedal and the squash ball.  Not a big deal, but kind of annoying.
Is there any better to do this?

Thanks

I cut a squash ball in half (still leaving the spring in) and filled it with
tissue paper so I would get the spongy feeling without the annoying noise.
It also doesnt need to be held in place.

Well, if it's spongy you're looking for...

I took a big kitchen sponge, cut it in half (each piece is abt. 4"x5"x2"),
cut a 1x1 hole in each, and stretched them over the pedals.  The feel is
very progressive, there is no noise, and they don't even look so bad.

Turn unit upside down, remove screws, turn complete unit around again
and place on table/whatever, lift off top by holding the pedals in
place, replace brake spring with ball (ball will stay in spring recession
of bottom), replace top (hang on to the pedals..), hold complete unit
together (can let go of the pedals now) and turn upside down again
to replace the screws.

No need for tape :-)

Actually...

Just opened the case, kept the top of it upside down, and held the ball in
place as I put the bottom back on.  Once you squeeze the case closed, just
start putting the middle screws in and it stays in place fairly easily.

Cool.  Much better.

Thanks for your replies all..

Is that a natural sponge or a synthetic? What color? ;-)

I can see a new cult being born. Squash ballers vs spongers!

It's actually a damn good idea Steve, I'm going to try it out this weekend.

Somehow I think using squashballs is more manly than using sponges :-/

Well, I don't want to admit to being a germfreak (biophobe?), but after my
kitchen sponges (the Professional Maintenance model from Ace Hardware, $1.49
on sale) get even *slightly* discolored, I remove them from my spotless
kitchen and stack them in the celler.  Every few years, my wife uses them to
paint the walls (it's some kinda chi-chi "blotting" technique she learned
from Martha Stewart), but they pile up faster than I can find uses for them.
I was thinking of a padded cell for those stressful moments when league
racing defeats me, but if you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears....

Try eliminating Martha Stewart from your life.  She's the source of this
compulsion.  Once you break her spell, you'll realize you can dump those
sponges in the trash can and forever be free.   8-)

MOMO question

Guys, I have figured out how to combine the "squash ball" and the
"sponge" solution.  I went to the sporting goods store and bought a
tennis trainer ball.  This is a very firm foam tennis ball and it
compresses very nicely and progressively, so well that it feels nearly
exactly like the brake pedal on my Porsche (:P) does... how's that hit
ya?(btw, my pedals are a home made set up, but I have a set of the
LWFF pedals and I believe that this would work there too!)
