Nascar Graphics Question...

How many cars do you draw in front and behind you?  And what kind of
frame rate do you expect (call decent)?

These things are very important if you expect meaningful responses.

Nascar Graphics Question...

by Darren O'Nei » Wed, 21 Jun 1995 04:00:00

I've seen a lot of comments and questions on how to get the best
display from the game.  Here is my question:

I've got a 75 Mhz Pentium with 16 Meg RAM and a video card with 1 Meg.
Would it help greatly to upgrade to 2 Meg of RAM on the video card?
I am now running with everything pretty much off except car textures.
I am running in the SVGA mode, and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I usually run with 8 in front and 2 behind.  With everything except
grass and track texture on, I still get a choppy framerate.  I would
like to be able to run with this setup, with perhaps more cars drawn
and be able to get rid of the choppy look.

My main question is for people who have similiar hardware, is this
common or do I have something set wrong?  I love the SVGA graphics,
but I also loved being able to play in VGA with everything on and
38 cars drawn in front of me!

Later,
Darren

I doubt it.
You dont need more than 512k for 640x480 in 256 colors.
The 1mb is only for added color dept vs. resolution
(Neither of which most DOS games care about)

How do you set the graphics in SVGA? I have a 66 Mhz machine
and my graphics are not exactly SVGA quality.

DEAR ALL,

AT LEAST YOU CAN GET THE SVGA GRAPHICS TO WORK. I CONFIGURED MY MACHINE WITH AS MUCH FREE MEM AS POSSIBLE AND IT STILL WILL NOT LET ME RUN IN SVGA.

Hi,

You will have to manually (or during boot-up) have to load a svga
driver too.

Dude, you have to type Nascar -h and it will probably be quite slow
on a 66mhz in SVGA.. Hope this helps though...
