Low Cost Motion Simulators For PC Games!!!!

by Mark Bar » Sat, 20 Dec 2003 12:33:49

Hello,

We recently started manufacturing low-cost hi-fidelity 3 DOF motion
platforms that are compatible with PC racing games, flight simulators,
etc.  We are able to extract the telemetry data (pitch, roll, heave,
g-forces, etc) from the games to program our motion simulators.  That
means our customers do not have to write any software -- just place
your***pit on top of our simulators and you're ready to go!  Here
are some of the PC games we work with:

NASCAR Racing 2003
NASCAR Heat
Microsoft Flight/Combat Simulator (all versions)
X-Plane
F-18 Hornet
Xtreme Air Racing
Aces High
(and more)

If you're interested in finding out more about our motion simulators,
please visit our website and you can download the video clips.

Mark Barry

Looks cool, but it would be interesting to see if your interpretation of
the term "low cost" is the same as mine :-), but I can't find any price
examples, maybe I'm blind ?

You know what they say, if you have to ask how much it is you probably
can't afford it. Looking at the engineering involved I think we're talking
Big Money by *our* standards :-)

From the price quote page...

"Each of our motion platforms are custom made with most systems costing
between $10,000 to $20,000 USD."

Which is not "low cost" for me. :-)

Low Cost Motion Simulators For PC Games!!!!

Hello All,

The reason we don't put prices on our website is because every one of
our simulators is custom made depending on the customer's specs.  We
do have a "Price Quote" page on our website if you want to send us an
email.  Most of our systems cost from $10,000 to $20,000 USD which, if
you do some shopping around, is very low-cost.  Most other motion
bases cost over $20,000 USD and does not come with software that
extracts the telemetry data from the PC games which means you have to
write the software (very expensive).  Our simulators come with
software so all you have to do is put your***pit on top.  Hope this
helps.

Regards,
Mark Barry

Thanks Mark. I am sure it is a very reasonable cost for the technology. It
is just on this group there are some very ambitious***pit builders
managing to build stuff from bits found in the garage - almost certainly not
letting the wives in on the outgoings! So the lure of a low cost motion
simulator for the spare room project is too much to resist checking out :)

Cheers
Tony

what about just selling the software for people that wanted to build their
own motion platform?
