I know that F1 2002 uses the same pit limiter as F1 2001 but is it true that
in real F1cars the limiter is disabled by selecting 2nd gear?

Maybe they can map it to deselect revlimited too, but otherwise no.
They have a button on the wheel that engages the pitlane revlimiter, and
also opens
the door to the fueltank. (aswell as turning on the red blinking light on
the rear)

No, in real F1 cars the speed limiter is controlled by the pits and is
used when the wrong car is approaching the finish line first:)

I think I heard that the rev limiter was disabled by selecting 2nd or
3rd.  I don't remember exactly, but I suppose the driver can also do that
manually.  Something I saw on Speed Channel, probably.

I thought the rev limiter on the F1 cars was actually button acutated in the
***pit by the driver? If it is, no need to shift, just lift off the button.
All their stuff is electronic/hydraulic, it has to be that simple.

The rev limiter in a Ferrari is activated by the radio: "Hey Rubens, slow
down and let Michael win"

Yes, the button is labeled "S" from what ive seen on photos.
Its probably not real to change gear to get rid of the pitlane-limiter,
cause
Alex Yoong got in 2nd gear in the pits, but the only thing that happened was
that the engine caughed. maybe it was to lowrev :)

But since as said, everything is possible. Its just some extra code in the
computers
"If (gearbutton == pressed) then pitlanelimiter = off"

etc =)
