CH PRO PEDALS- ANY GOOD?

by Roey Lehma » Thu, 08 Aug 1996 04:00:00

Hi. I am looking for a set of decent priced pedals. And since there
is only 1 kind of pedals here, (in Israel, the Video card - sound card -
game controllers deprived country) which are the CH pro pedals, I want
to know if its worth it for me to just stick to my Flightstick PRO (YEP,
CH again). BTW, I have heard that an analog breaking system (pedals) is
recommended for Grand Prix 2.
So, whats the verdict on the CH stuff?
(Oh yeah, this might seem absured but if I buy the CH PRO PEDALS here,
I'll be dropping something like 120$ !!! (THATS AMERICAN DOLLARS!)
That should give you some Idea of the tax situation here.

I use the Ch pro pedals for both driving and flying sims. They work just great
and they seem to be very well made (i.e., they should last a good long time).
I recommend them highly. Here in the U.S. I paid $72 US for them last fall
(from computer express). I also use the flightstick PRO. the Pro pedals in
with the Fltstick Pro is an excellent combo for both racing and flying.

I have the CH Pro Pedals and I've been pretty happy with them. Some
considerations:

1. They pivot around an axis in the center which means they don't feel
quite like a real pedal.
2. They don't have progressive resistance, so braking is a little trickier
than with a T2 or one of the more expensive wheel/pedal units.
3. The pedals are far enough apart that you just about have to drive
two-footed, one foot on the throttle, the other on the brake.

The good points:

1. If you enjoy flight simulators, you'll have a decent set of rudder
pedals. You just have to remove the little *** stops behind the pedals
and switch it to rudder mode.
2. They are very solid. I have hundreds of hours on them and they've never
failed, no problems with broken springs or other mechanical failures.

I plan to keep using mine until I can talk my wife into an ECC or a GP-500.
Any day now... <g>

CH PRO PEDALS- ANY GOOD?

I liked my CH pedals, but decided after a week of experimenting that
there is no hope for me to drive them one-footed. They seem to require
a two-footed (right-gas, left-brake)  method. I am sure a lot of
people will have somehow figured out another way, but this was my
determination.

But I eventually went and got a T2. Sort of sucks that the pedals are
reversed for most flight sims with a T2, but I like them more than the
CH pedals for driving- they have more resistance (the T2)
