I got a STB Velocity 128. Can I do all the cool 3Dfx stuff I keep hearing
about??

Forgot to tell you all, I need an email response.
No, the STB Velocity 128 uses another chipset. It is a combo 2D/3D card.
You will need either a Voodoo Graphics based card or a new Voodoo II card in
order to run native 3DFX programs. Keep in mind, though, that alot of
programs that run on these 3DFX cards are just Direct 3D games. Your card
will probably work with these games, just not the native 3DFX games.
If you are interested in getting a Monster 3D, I have them for $118.00
(OEM). I am currently awaiting the new Monster 3D IIs and the Jazz Renegade
3Ds. Check out the "Flight-Ware" page below.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Oh btw...
Since STB has put some drivers for OpenGL, you will have the possibility to
play games like Quake1 or 2, without needing a Voodoo-based card.
To resume, the STB card can do those things:
-Normal non-accelerated
-D3D
-OpenGL
The only big ones you don't have are 3dfx and Rendition. You will have to
buy another card to have those (but still use the STB). IMHO a STB
Velocity 128 AGP + any Voodoo2 card is the perfect duo you can have
all-around for ***.
<-- Happy customer of the STB who has 30fps in N2, 25fps at Gp2, 70fps at
Quake2, etc...

Your STB uses a chipset call Riva 128 by nVidia. It does 2D and 3D,
and it is a very good card.
3Dfx is a standalone 3D accelerator, totally dedicated to producing 3D
graphics. Thus, you need a 2D card to run with it, as 3Dfx does not do
Windows or anything like that. If a game doesnt use 3Dfx, then the
card isntused.
3Dfx card examples include the Diamond Monster 3D, Orchid Righteous
3D, Maxi Gamer 3Dfx.
