No shit, really?  Maybe that's because the programmers were out to (God
forbid) make a very realistic driving simulation, and therefore applied
the real laws of physics (conservation of energy comes to mind).

  Well yes Mr Cassock, you are correct, the swerving does work in the
Nascar game. Contrary to Mr Horste' weak attempt at racing knowledge
and fancy words to impress us all, it is not "consevation of energy".
It's called heating up the ***. Run your race with a pace lap start
and as you swerve through the track you can actually observe your
tires heating up quicker.
  On another note, this newsgroup is for spreading knowledge about
racing sims and helping people, NOT making people feel small.
