Colin McRae rally problem: IBM/Cyrix CPU incompatability?

by Mar » Mon, 19 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi

Has anyone had any problems with CMR and IBM/Cyrix Cpu's (mine is
specifically the PR200+L  (non mmx)).  I cannot under any
circumstances get the damned sim to run yet I have now ensured full
DirectX6 files compatability.  I have tried pretty much everything
imaginable (even trying different memory, 3 different types of
graphics card, removing WinTV etc etc!)

every time I try to run it it runs the title and intro sequences then
bombs out with detailed error msg of:

RALLY executed an invalid instruction in
module RALLY.EXE at 0137:004d655f.
etc etc

that's all I think it can be now!!!

any suggestions would be welcome!

Mark

codemasters seem to be having a lot of problems with this game, i have the
same problem on my machine although this seems to relate more to the 3D
card (voodoo2) than the processor, i e-mailed them a week a go and they
have just come back and told me to check on their website where they will
shortly be posting a patch that will hopefully solve a lot of the
problems......

......nice to see these games are fully developed and tested before
release......
