recently downloaded the demo of Colin McRae Rally for the PC.
When I am presented with the view out the front window of the car, I can
hear all the sound effects fine, the voices and countdown start ok, and
I can see the speedometer display and skid marks(?) on the road surface.
However every thing else is just a white screen. There are is no scenery
at all or any view of the road. I have tried all available combinations
of settings in the option menus and also switching resolutions and
colour depths on my desktop. I have read the README file and followed
all instructions for installation and video card selection. I even tried
selecting other display drivers with no luck.
I am running a PII 300Mhz with 96Mb of SDRAM, a Sound Blaster Gold
AWE64, an ATI All-in-Wonder-Pro 8Mb AGP (Rage Pro chipset), and a DEC
DE100 EtherWorks LC NIC.
The ATI driver is version 4.11.2453 Lonsdale-B37F) and DirectX 6.0 is
installed and functioning ok. I have several other "picky" games
installed that run fine, and there are no hardware conflicts of any
type. I have tried every thing I can think of, even downloading and
installing the patch from the Codemasters web site even though I don't
think it was meant for the demo. If any one has any ideas or needs more
information, please contact me.
