Colin McRae problems? Here's some tricks that worked for me

by David Fros » Sun, 24 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Folks,
Just a post to let you know about a coupla fixes for Colin McRae Rally
that I haven't seen posted before:

I have a Diamond Monster 3D 2, and ever since I bought the game the graphics
were
buggy...(it was like looking through a dense white fog)... so bad that I
couldn't play the game at all.
The official patch released by Codemasters made absolutely no difference at
all.

I was ready to return the game to the shop until I noticed that DirectX6.1
(yep 6.1 not 6) was available...
so I installed it and presto the problems were instantly fixed..it runs
great now...all the weird white fog has gone.

If anyone is having trouble with the video in this game, I recommend you try
DirectX6.1.

Also, if you are having trouble with the menus responding like the buttons
are stuck in treacle (ie: you press a key
and wait 30 seconds for it to respond), then try turning off the music
completely, in the audio settings.

Cheers

It worked for me with the demo and M3D 2 drivers 207 also. I should get the
full version in the mail on Tuesday from InteractCD. :-)
