GPL trouble with two USB input devices?

by Scott Stoddar » Fri, 01 Feb 2002 10:21:43

I have just added a Logitech MOMO USB wheel to my game system (P3-933 /
GF2), which also has a Microsoft USB force feedback joystick (for flight
simulations).  F1 2001 works fine - I can pick either input device, MOMO
wheel works, no problems.

GPL, which I have just installed again, does not see the joystick axis on
the joystick or the wheel.  Buttons work OK.  I assume this is because there
are two USB input devices installed, and GPL just can't deal with this.  I
have the GPL 1.2 and Direct3D patches installed.

I have changed the controller IDs around to put the wheel first in the list,
but still no joy.  Is there a fix or workaround for this?

I bought the MOMO wheel mostly to start playing GPL again, and of course
this is the game that doesn't work!

Many thanks for any and all help.

GPL trouble with two USB input devices?

Can't help you specifically, but my system has 3 USB devices installed, and GPL
runs with no problems.  LWFF (USB) on ID#1, Act-Labs GPL Shifter (USB) on ID#2,
plus I have a CF card reader on a 3rd USB port.

So, I don't think that's an inherent problem with GPL.  I know that you've tried
switching ID's, but I'd continue trying other combinations.

Oh!  Just thought of something else!  On the GPL controller screen, have you
switched to the SECOND controller screen when calibrating your wheel within
GPL?  I use TSW (gameport) peds along with the LWFF in GPL, and there is a
second controller calibration screen now.  Look closely at that first controller
calibration screen and see if there's not an arrow (I believe it points to the
right) somewhere in there.

I hope this helps.

You do know that GPL can have more than one calibration screen? If all
the axis's don't fit on the first one then click on the arrow pointing
to the right at the bottom of the screen.

I have more than one USB device and it works no problem, that's under
Win98 though. God knows what happens under XP, you probably have to
sacrifice a chicken to get them all recognized!

Good luck

Gerry
