input device for both flight and driving simulators

I am interested in getting an input device for the use with both
  a driving simulator (Sierra's Driver's Ed 98) and a flight simulator
(Microsoft FS).  In both cases, I'd like the controls to be as close
to real life as possible, since the purpose is for my son to learn
how to drive and how to fly (I don't want him looking for a button
on the keyboard when it is time to apply the brakes, for instance).

I had settled on the Thrustmaster Nascar Pro wheel and pedals
for use with the driving simulation when my son expressed interest
in learning to fly as well.  Can I use the Nascar Pro with the
flight simulator?  Is there any device that will work well for
both programs?   I'm not sure there are, since a flight yoke should
move in and out while a steering wheel does not, for instance,
and I believe there may also be differences in the behaviors of the
  pedals (not sure about this).

If there is no device that works well for both, what would you
  recommend for each program?

I realize that the simulations are just a first step towards
learning to drive or fly, and that there is no substitute for
hands on learning.  I'd just like the knowledge acquired from the
simulations to transfer as easily as possible to the real
  environment.

  Thanks in advance,
  Bruce Hempel

CH Products make a yoke called Virtual Pilot Pro and a set set of rudder
pedals that can be set to work as accelerator and brake. Or you can do what
I do: Set up two computers, one as a flight simmer, the other as a driving
sim.

I'll second Rick on that. I am a GP2 and FS98 user and I have the same
kind of combination except the pro version and the way my friends abuse
of them trying to stay on the road (GP2) I am glad it is so robust!
