Unless you plan to be able to buy a new vid card soon to go with your
proposed mobo/CPU, you should put together a system with a little more
balance. I'm not sure if you can save enough on your MB/CPU purchase to
swing a Ti4200, but if you can, do it! Otherwise, get a GF3 that you can
overclock. Go for 128MB too, memory rules.
I just replaced my GF2-Ti64MB with a GF4-Ti4200-128MB. YIKES!!! I more
than doubled my 2001SE Benchmark. FYI, I have a 1.3Ghz Athlon T-Bird on
an IWill KK266 mobo with 512MB of PC133 RAM. Nothing is overclocked,
even though my mobo/CPU are very capable.
I haven't run any sims on it yet, as I just got the vid card yesterday.
It made a world of difference for Medal Of Honor, I made SURE to check
THAT out :-) I expect to have no problems running GTR2002 when I finally
get it. (Thanks to a very kind soul in this newsgroup!) I'm stuck with
dial-up service :-((
I still need to get F1-2K2 though, GTR probably won't work with F1-2000.
<hehe>
So that's my opinion...take what you will.
