Modern era with real teams:
- Formula One Racing Sim (F1RS)
Modern era with fake teams but updatable:
- Monaco Grand Prix Racing Sim (MGPRS)
60's historical Formula One:
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL)
Do I make myself clear?-)
Well, if you already have GP2 you're sorted for modern F1 (IMHO) so the
only one left is Grand Prix Legends. The finest sim yet. Get it
yesterday!

Bullshit. Perhaps they released a patch for MGPRS2 which has
drastically improved the game since Dec98? If not I simply don't
believe it. The framerate was certainly worse at Monaco in
MGPRS2 than it is in F1RS. (I have a P2-450 with 128MB of
RAM and a 12MB Voodoo2).
Are the Force Feedback effects also improved in MGPRS2? The
last I heard it was not. The sound also was certainly *NOT* improved.
In fact the sound was quite a bit worse. The 3D sound also sucked.
This is quite surprising since the 3D sound in F1RS is awesome.
MGPRS2 is more like F1RS 1.5 than it is a new version of the game.

Nice way to make friend Greg <g>
IMHO Gp2.. updated with 1996tracks, 1996 performances, 1996 carshape and
carset is as good as F1RS. It excels it in some domains (game engine,
sound, depth of the options) but fails to F1RS in others (graphic engine,
tyre temps ! heh). I even consider the GP2 AI better than in F1RS.

"People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise
how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world."
- Improved ingame graphics and FX (i.e. more and more detailed
objects, reflections, additional texturing, mip mapping)
- support for higher resolutions
- new ingame perspectives
- brake ratio, ARB, fuel strategy can be changed on the fly during the
race
- more realistic wheather changes
- 2 new tracks
- the ability to change team & driver info, editors for graphics and
sound
- a vastly modified driving model
- much more aggressive AI
- blue flag and additional black flag situations
- extended setup and telemetry
- spare car & 107 % rule option
- the careermode
- the scenariomode
- the Gameservice (Multiplayer via Internet, up to 8 players)
So, in any case it *is* a lot better than F1RS, I cannot see a single
reason why anyone should still buy the older, less advanced of the two
(money issue aside).
As you can see there's quite a number of changes/additions, a bit the
opposite to another company who just released basically the same game
for the third time - and people are still happily buying and playing
it... ?
PS: you really need to check your system, there must be a serious
problem if you cannot manage to get a fluid framerate on a PII450. I
know people are running it successfully on an ordinary P200 without
any hickups (low res of course)

Except.....FIRS or MGPS2 (which is the newer version of F1RS) have
better graphics than GP2 (3Dfx). I hated F1RS when it first came out,
as I was a die hard GP2 fan, and F1RS just didn't feel right?
However, after lots of practicing, it does grow on you, and gets to be
very enjoyable. I still think GP2 feels better to drive though? So if
you want looks, F1RS or MGPR2 is your choice, if you want driving
feel, stick with GP2?
The best F1 sim, EVER, though, has to be GRAND PRIX LEGENDS, no doubt,
buy it. You will regret it if you miss out on what is, a sim racing
experience that should not be missed! It sounds great, it looks great,
it drives great. Go get it............Well! what are you waiting for?

p.s. - hey, ymenard - i saw a screening of that new SW flick. it blows.

Absolutely not. I have a Logitech Formula Force, and the feedback is quite
awesome.
You should check your sound card...it's really better than in F1RS...the pitch
is far more detailed.
I wouldn't go that far, there was a lot of new features like Tel described.
Although it wasn't a brand new game, it's a good evolution.
Cheers!

The AI is really improved in MGPRS2, it's better than GP2 and F1RS; the
adversaries can dodge if you tend to be agressive. They also let you overtake
them, and sometimes gives you hard time.
Cheers!

Ewwwww.. Im sure people use them "all" the time <g>
1 track lost <g>
Rename this to "We lost our FIA license"
vastly ? Still the old and canned Pod game engine. And the title they are
presently doing is STILL using the old game engine.
LOL can we say dumb AI ? (somebody has damage... a lapper pass him.. the
lapper receives a blue flag.. lets the driver with damage pass... loop this
until the damaged car goes into the pits).
It's not really good. I finished a season with 10wins and the Championship
at my first season with a Tyrell, and I still only got a wheel for a
Benneton.. not for a top team.
It's one of the worse online experience I ever saw. the NROS.. Hawaii..
VROC.. it's years ahead of a 2-3car racing with extreme latency (cars
stopping on a straight all the time and reaccelerating from 0 to 200 in
0.5seconds. Nice game engine <g>).
They still never fixed the no sound in replay after what 6patches now ? They
are a incredible company <g>. Maybe I shoudl post my URL about the Union
that the UBisoft employees want to form because they are threated like meat
and have severe m***and abuse problems at work?
