GPL tweaking gone bad??

by Jchar » Thu, 06 Jul 2000 04:00:00

While perusing the track.ini file I noticed some interesting values relating
to fuel loads for each car and velocities.  Is this what I think it is?  Can
you adjust at what rate fuel is used or top speeds etc.??  I really hope
not, but it's got me worried.  Would this work online?  Running a whole race
on 1 gallon would not be good for the community.

Concerned,

I dont know about that but it got me concerned too while ago. i think there
was also numbers to alter for grip and stuff. scary!! I really hope that
theres no chance to fix them. If it would be possible there would always be
someone using these.

I think on vroc the .ini  files are overrided by the vroc settings- if this
was a prob then we would have heard about it many times before now......

It just affects AI's !

The speed var's are probably multipliers for the AI.
The fuel rate is more what amount of fuel the cars will consume per
lap, as an indication for the #laps you can drive on a specific number
of gallons.
Don't know exactly what gp.dlong_speed_adj_coeff will do though. Will
test it. :)

The fuel loading numbers in the GPL track.ini files only affect AI cars.
The dlong_speed_adj_coeff value increases/decreases the baseline speed of
the AI at a given track.  When tweaking this, be sure to use small
increments - a difference of .03 in either direction will yield significant
changes to the AI lap times.
