I am doing 1:13 at the Glen with stock setup and auto shifting.  How much
faster can I go before I have to***with setup and shift myself ?

I'm not very good, and I've done 1:10.xx in most of the cars with stock
setups.  Never tried auto shifting, though.

It's not that hard to shift for yourself.  Upshift well before redline,
preferably while moving in a straight line.  (Lift as you upshift to
avoid redlining your engine.)  Come down to third for the downhill turn,
third again for the sharp right-hander, and second for the ninety.
Downshift after you brake for the curve, not before, to avoid redlining
or upsetting your car's balance.  20 laps and you'll have it nailed,
and by then you'll probably have broken that 1:13.

I've done a 1:06:01 with the Lotus, default setup, fuel lowered to 7
laps. This was in a Novice race.
