TM Pro Wheel & GP2 config help!!!

by Charles Ma » Fri, 06 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I have the Nascar Pro Wheel by Thrustmaster and am trying to configure GP2
to use the separate pedals configuration, ie acceleration is on Joystick One
Vertical Axis along with steering on Horizontal Axis while braking is on
Joystick Two Horizontal Axis.

I have followed TM's instructions on doing this setup with GP2 but when I
calibrate the pedals things go haywire.  TM's manual says to calibrate for
forward and backward movements, ie forward means pressing down fully on the
pedal and backward means letting go of the pedal,  but the Gp2 calibration
asks for a centre calibration.  There is no physical centre in the
"separate" setup unless halfway to full forward on the acceleration pedal is
considered centre.  GP2 will only accept a calibration that has been centred
while the TM manual never talks about a centre calibration.  So I centre
using this halfway to full forward on both joystick one vertical and
joystick two horizontal.

Now, when I go into the game, the pedals do not work.  The car does not
budge from the start line. Do I need a dedicated game card perhaps?  Or is
the problem due to the fact that GP2 cannot use two joystick configurations.
?

I'm using the Soundblaster16 gameport.  Thanks for any info on this
perplexing problem.

I had to download patch n2pat1.exe from the sierra/papyrus support site to get
n2 to see either a joystick or the nascar pro
wheel. The patch fixes several things,my problem was related
to win 95release2.
good luck...

Charles I think you need to select the "control driven calibration" in the
advanced controller setup
