gp3 msff problem and very poor tech support

by johnd.. » Wed, 02 Aug 2000 04:00:00

I have the problem with the msff wheel pulling to the left.  So I rang
haspro gp3 tech support.  What a waste of time.  They said that it had
been reported to them by a number of people and said that the problem
was with the wheel in windows and not gp3.  What!!!  He kept telling me
that the problem happens in the control panel and they have simulated
it there.  I told him that it was ok in the control panel, but he kept
saying it was a 'windows problem'.I told him that gp3 was the only
software that I had problems with this wheel with.  He told me to hold
on.  5 mins later he comes back and said that the play testers had no
problems with it, and said that perhaps it was a problem with the game
port driver.  I refered him to my earlier answer 'then why does it only
happen in gp3'.  More err's and arr's then he said they would have to
look into it but said that they have no immediate answer.  Then the
cream of all questions to me - 'have you phoned microsoft about it!'.
Ok I then told him how ridiculous a question that was.  Then I
suggested that it could be a problem only affecting parallel wheels and
not usb.  He was quite pleased with that, and declared that they will
look into that, as they had not asked that question to the people who
had rang with that problem!  That was it!  He did not take my name or
number, and just ended it saying that they will have to look into it.

Ok, some of us have problems with this.  Are the guys having problems
using parallel versions of msff.  I get the feeling that they are not
in too much of a hurry to fix this problem, so I suggest to everyone
who has it, to ring tech support and keep ringing until they fix it.
Even if you dont get much joy, you can laugh (or cry) at the level of
support you get!

I'm using a MSFF connectedto the gameport of a SBLive Value - I get no

checked.  Ho hum

Got the same kind of problems with the USB port. While I'm playing I loose
the wheel connection so I have to quickly go to pause, switch off and back
on the wheel to get it back to normal
I have the FFW from Guillemot

Don't know if they will fix it, if I remember well they didn't release any
patch for GP2

Same here only it's connected to an SB128. The version of the wheel software
is 3.02.
In addition, no centering force when FF is unchecked.

Gameport connection to my SB Live Player. No FF when that map y to x
box is unchecked, and a "lets throw this car off the road" forces when
checked. Very annoying.

Same problems here with a MSFF connected to SBLive, no forces with 'map y
forces to x' (or whatever its called) and pull to left when it is ticked.
I have found a solution to centre the wheel when choosing not to use force
feedback, which is what I have chosen to do until this is sorted out.
Deselect the force feedback option in the game, and then UNPLUG the power
cable to the MSFF whilst in the game.  When you plug back in, the wheel
will centre itself!

I have no problems with the buttons not working.  Just map the buttons to
relevant keys using the sidewinder software.

Yepp, that bugs me the most. If at least I could disable FF and
the wheel would just have the configured resistance.
