NASCAR for playstation- pit bug?

by maps » Fri, 29 Aug 1997 04:00:00

OK, maybe my NASCAR ignorance will show now. Why, at Darlington in
this case, when I pit- entering at under 55 and leaving at under 55-
do I get black-flagged *next* time I cross the start/finish line for
"going over 55"? I thought that once I got out of the pit, I was free-
but no matter what I do, I get nabbed for speeding after I get back in
the race.

What is that all about- is it a bug, or is there some rule in NASCAR I
am not observing? COme to think of it, I don't even know why there are
two pit lanes, one on each side of the field; do half the cars pit on
one side, half the other? Must I go through both pits to be legal?!

Please post reply- thanks.

You got nabbed back in pit lane, but the only place you are shown the
black flag is at S/F (where the flagman is). Make sure you've passed the
pace car before getting back on it. I'm not aware of a bug in this code,
but it's certainly possible...

When there are two pit lanes, half the field pits in each (assuming you
have enough cars to use the back pits.) You don't have to go through
both pits.

Thank you, Jim. As always, you are not only a good and prompt source
of info, but a gentleman too.

I am quite sure I was using the start/finish line indicated in the
pits as my place to "gun it"- my error; I'll use the pace car next
time. Now I'll try darlington again; I think I'll start out with a bit
less fuel; right-side tires were shot after 30 laps, and I couldn't
keep up with anybody at 105% by that point.

Q: do I get $1 million if I win at Darlington at 105%? (joke)

That is interesting; seems one side or the other would invariably get
gypped; the two sides couldn't be exactly the same or as easy to
enter/exit. But then, where you are in any pit lane can be an
advantage over another place... and that's racing.
