| >> One thing that worries me- is there a menu for calibrating an analog
| controller? >>
| Yes. Very nice calibration.
Well, there you go, I'll buy it then.
| >> I understand NASCAR is prepared for a Mad Catz- but even
| so, does NASCAR allow you to do your own calibration of it, or must
| you live with their pre-notated calibration of a Mad Catz? >>
| Nope. You can calibrate it however you like.
Great news. I'll have to buy NASCAR now.
And I;ll have to figure out some way to mou t my Mad Catz- I rest it
on my lap now, and by the end of a race, I am one sore SOB. Any tips?
| >> Psygnosis' F1, on the other hand, is a *masterpiece*. I realize people
| are flaming it, but I really don't see why. Have they driven through
| downtown Monaco?!? So far, every course I've done in the past 2 weeks

| Agreed. F1 is fantastic!
Just spectacular. I just got finished another 2 hours of racing with
it. Friends of mine are working through Quake; they are all worried
what they will do next when they are done. I, on the other hand, will
be working on these 16 tracks... forever!
| >> I just hope NASCAR for PSX is optimized as well as F1 is. I've heard
| about some speed problems in the PSX NASCAR, particularly in
| accidents. >>
| Afraid so. When anything goes on bad on the track, the frame rate drops,
| even if the accident isn't in view. I knew there was something bad
| happening elsewhere on the track becuase suddenly the frame rate dropped.
| Sure enough...came around and there was a big mess...better than a spotter

Well, NASCAR was always a bit slow even on PC (in SVGA, at least),
form what I heard. ICR2 was actually faster in certain respects- later
generation program by Papy probably accounts for it. I don't care; I
must have NASCAR, now that I have a platform (PSX) basically fast
enough to handle it.
The big question is, what the hell did Bizarre/Psygnosis do to get F1
so damn fast, and why is no other PSX racer *I've* seen (including
Destruction Derby, IMHO) even close to it? While PSX seems to be just
coming in to "full bloom" in terms of amount and quality of software
coming out for it, in one sense, PSX is the "slow guy", what with N64
and other soon to come... but Bizarre/Psygnosis has showed with F1
that there is still a lot you can do just by optimizing code... I
mean, the speed of the graphics in F1 blow my mind. I hope this means
new programs have to meet their benchmarks, their standard, to be
acceptable to gamers. I really don't need 64 bits if 32 can do what
I'm seeing in F1.
Thanks, Randy!
