them.
I want to upgrade my Voodoo3 Drivers, but the latest drivers require
directx7
Does anyone have any reason why I shouldn't install them? I mainly run N3,
NL, SCGT and GPL
Thanks in advance,
Dean

It's really kind of hard to make a decision based on the experience of all
of us on RAC. Because we all have different experiences with different
products. I really think it depends on one, or both, of two things.
1. Our particular system
and/or
2. The configuration of our particular system
For example...the being "kicked to the desktop" when attempting to race on
line.
Or...the system lockup when trying to load up Nascar 3
Or...the DirectX 7 problems that some are having.
I'm not even going to say what kind of system I'm running because all it
will do is start an argument on this board about which system is the best.
But I will tell you this...on my system I have NEVER had a lockup problem,
or a "kicked to the desktop", or a DirectX problem. I just go along all
"fat, dumb and happy", and install each upgrade as it comes along and have
never experienced a problem with it. And I run the same games/sims (your
choice) that you listed below.
So the bottom line of this book I just wrote is to tell you simply, that
each system is different. Some have problems...some don't. I happen to be
one of the lucky ones that don't.
Maybe you will too...good luck.

Andi.
I installed DX7a and the new Voodoo3 drivers and have taken a steady 4-5 FPS
hit on NASCAR3, not too mention I can't hotswap my game controllers now,
either. Some people have no problems at all, though. Play at your own risk,
but I'd stay away from DX7 until you absolutely need to load it.
