Corporation - helping America into the New World...
This is a good thread to mark in your diary for review in a couple of years
to see which way things went. I expect by then that a fully network virtual
sky full of flight simulators will be available on the x-box and competing
platform devices.
I should mention that I have never owned a *** console (except for a pong
game in the 70s), as until now I have relied on high end PCs for my ***
requirements.
The following facts I believe weigh the scales in favour of consoles in the
future:
1. The next round of console hardware will have native HDTV support - this
translates in up to 1920 x 1080 resolution, so kills the argument that PCs
offer superior graphics
2. There is an increasing gulf between the CPU/GPU requirements for ***,
and most other functions except for video editing. We know the the "avalon"
3D interface for "longhorn" (next version of Windows client) and other 3D
interfaces for open source clients will drive the GPU requirements up to the
similar levels for high end games on PCs, however a lot of the bleeding edge
(read:expensive) 3D rendering is *** specific.
3. High end video cards are now costing much more than a complete console
system, and more that complete low end PC systems.
Let's see what happens.
