Looks pretty good. Have to wait and see about the driving model. And I
presume it's "dive anywhere" right, no invisible walls? Invisible
walls really ruin rally games.

Hmmmmm, I hope not....Isn't a Monitor refresh rate of 120 hrz for a
recommended system a little bit high? And I fear for the physics
part....when GPL was announced, they were talking about the physics,
not graphics. As always, I hope I am wrong, 'cause those graphics are
realy nice.

Yes, drive anywhere, although there is a limit, of course!

I mean, you can't drive from mid Wales, to Paris via a journey on a train
through the Channel Tunnel! :)

Cheers

The physics model is what they are talking about. I know for sure that it is
their #1 priority and that they are working very hard to get it just right.

Everything they've said publically is that they want to create the most
immersive, realistic, experience possible in all phases of the sim.

I personally feel that no sim can claim accuracy without significant help
from the real drivers of the cars simulated. If it doesn't impress them,
then how can it impress me? Europress/Magnetic Fields are receiving
physics/force feedback input from a number of drivers, including the '98 BRC
Champion Martin Rowe. They are also receiving input from the individual
teams, car manufacturers, and Mitsibushi engineers.

The accuracy of the physics model is their #1 priority. If the graphics
(which may be the best ever) are an indication as to the quality of the rest
of the sim, then the physics model should be excellent.

I hope they consider internet play as well.  From what I've read there is
a modem database being constructed so players can get together(?).  They
need to support TCP/IP multi-player internet racing or it won't make it
to my PC...

Please tell me that these guys included a***pit mode with working
gauges and all.

All the screenshots look great and the discription sounds like it
will set new standards in Rally sims, but all the shots seem to
show the car from 3rd person.

A***pit mode is an absolute must for any title that is striving for
realism.

So for those of you lucky enough to have seen a beta, is there one?

Thanks.

Seeyas on the track.

There are screenshots showing the***pit view at this excellent fan site.

interior for each car with working gauges. Multiple viewpoints within the
***pit.

Yep, there's***pitview, there is a big problem  with***pitmode in
rallysims, since youre goin sideways most of the time, you don't get the
right feeling of the corners in***pitmode because in RL you turn your
head to see the corner, but every***pitmode I've seen so far uses a
fixed camera. So the only way to get a realistic***pitmode in
rallysims is to get a camera that does "headmovement" to keep your eyes
on the corner instead of the fixed view you get today, IMHO.

Hi David,

The only thing I can find about the physics is the next:

"Advanced car physics
Using independent suspension, enhanced crash sequences and
interaction"

Is there more information available?

Nice in theory, however history showed us that this is no guarantee
for a good simulation :-(

Yup, still concerned, though. I also fear there is only support for
DirectInput.

Yah, that's cool. ;-) I didn't reallyt mean "anywhere", just that
we'll be able to cut corners if the geography allows it, as in CMR.

Thanks David, those look great!
I'm really looking forward to Rally99 now.

I was a fan of their original Rally Championship (despite the walls,
the physics felt really good), but they lost their good physics when
they followed it up with the arcadey International Rally Championship.

If they use even the physics from Rally Championship, this one should be
a keeper.

Looking forward to it and hoping they concentrate on the realism side.
