But beware of how much hotter the inside of your case will become.
The 3000 runs hot anyway, so you may as well put a fan on it, they're not
expensive.

Just put an old 486 fan on your heatsink or look at www.tennmax.com

I run mine at 172.  Be aware there is little to gain in overclocking the
video card, you should be looking at overclocking the cpu, where you get
linear speedups.

Also consider using the 'tweaked' voodoo3 drivers that are available (I use
this one:
http://members.fortunecity.com/computers_and_emulation/welcome.htm
and am quite happy with it) or even the official voodoo5 drivers which work
well with the voodoo3.

Also get the http://www.wicked3d.com/technology/wickedGL.htm
opengl drivers which speed up games like half-life and SOF alot!

183 without fan and without any problems. Tried it at 190 as well but that
wasn't 100% stable.

you're better off not even overclocking the card
unless you just like seeing higher numbers on
a benchmark test . the advantage of overclocking
any video card is minimal at best .

I just recently bought one used from a friend of mine.... I immediately
siliconed two cpu fans (the sink is really wide and they fit) on the sink.
(If I was less lazy I would have pulled off the sink, sanded it, and applied
some thermal paste available at your local radio shack - but it didn't want
to come off.  In that case you should get it hot (warm) and then it should
pop off more easily) - but I like I said I was too lazy.  The
sanding/pasting should make a considerable difference.
THEN, there is a registry hack available for the lastest drivers that
enables an overclock window with a fat slider.  It's pretty cool.
