GPL and Voodoo 3 3000 (AGP)

After some time away from GPL I have just returned, and now with a
voodoo 3 3000 AGP.

Whilst the frame rate is superb now (as compared to my old voodoo 1
card) the graphics have gone mad!  Most of the scenery is messed up,
with strange coulours everywhere.  The track does the same as well as
parts of the car.  I have run it in both 1024 * 768 and 800 * 600.

Can anyone help me out?  Is there a known bug for which there is a
patch?

Thanks in anticipation,
Craig.

I have the same card and the colors at 1024 are spot on.  Make sure
you have up to date drivers from 3dfx.  Possibly a re-install might help
too.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.  I do have the latest drivers from 3DFX so
I'll try the re-install option.  Strange cause in every other game
(Driver for example) it's spot on.

Cheers,
Craig.

Of course, make sure you have the latest 3dfx drivers then get the Banshee/3dfx
patch at http://www.the-fastlane.com/patches.shtml. This is a known problem
which 3dfx hasn't yet bothered to fix.

hmmm... Don't think 3Dfx has much to do with this.. The rasterizer GPL 1.0
used just wasn't working with V3 or Banshee cards... Papyrus have solved
these problems in Patches 1.1.0.3 and 1.2.0.1 which can be obtained from the
Papyrus website < http://www.papy.com >

Is there any fix for resolution changes?  I mean I like driving in modes
800x600 (and above), but when I go to the setup screens it defaults back to
640x480 mode.  It makes my monitor go black to switch resolutions and then
it pops back on again - it's kind of annoying.  It'd be really nice if you
could just set it to 800x600 (or whatever you prefer) and it'd keep it on
that resolution for all screens throughout the game.

Are you running GPL 1.0? This has been fixed in the 1.1 and 1.2 patches.

http://www.papy.com/

You should be able to find the patch there.

GPL 1.2 patch fixed problems with voodoo3 - are you using the new patch?
