Q: Uses GP2 the floating point processor ?

by B.B » Wed, 24 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Hi you all,

I am thinking of buying GP2, but I would like to know if it uses the

160 MHz. It is quit fast in normal operation (like a P100), but very
SLOW with FPU-operations.
Anyone uses this CPU for GP2 ?

Bye,
Brian

Not according to its diagnostics that it does before installing the sim.
I've got a Cyrix P166 and it runs it pretty well in SVGA at 19.6 frames
with no sky and only track details in mirrors... I purposely set it
below the recommended 23.6 and even at this speed it slows down during
starts and heavy traffic.

GP2 doesn't use the FPU.
