F1 2001 Custom race order

by Rod11101 » Mon, 20 May 2002 22:42:39

I might be a little late on this... with F1 2002 coming out shortly, but I've
found a way to make a custom championship. By opening your game.gdb file, in
your Season01 folder, you can change the race order around. I stress that you
first make a copy of the original tho!!  Scrolling down the file you'll find a
series of /////////////////// separating the race info. I found that if you cut
and paste, making sure to get all the info for a particular race, you can
change the order of the races.

Just click, hold and drag the mouse down to highlight all the info, but not
including the next set of ////////'s. To do this with Australia, for example,
start with the //////////'s above AUSTRALIA. Click and hold, to highlight.
Continue to highlight down to, and including, the last two }, } right before
the next set of //////'s above Malaysia.  Then select Cut.  Then scroll down
and put the cursor between to the last } of Monaco and the //////'s of Canada.
Then click paste. Bingo! When you run a season Malaysia is now your first race,
and Australia is after Monaco, before Canada.

The only glitch that I've found is that where ever you put Suzuka in your
season, that will be the final race. I'm not much of a programer, but all I
know is that if you put Suzuka after Australia, you'll have a two race
championship. And so on and so on. So if you don't like Suzuka, your're out of
luck, unless someone can fix this problem. This is great for deleting races
that you don't like. Just select all the info for Hockenheim (yawn) and click
DELETE. It's gone-ski! Or you can make, say, a 7 race championship, for those
of you that are busy with kids or work. I never seem to make it through the
whole season myself.  Sure, this isn't the route an F1 purest would take, but
it makes the seasons a little more enjoyable.

I've had 2 and 3 race short seasons, without any problems. So you might run
into problems with more races. But if 2 and 3 work, I don't see why all the
races wouldn't work that way. The first thing I'll be checking out on F1 2002
is the game.gdb file to see if it can be changed around as well.

Good luck, enjoy.
