The jittering is just far too bad now and I don't want to use those LWFF
pedal as the throttle. How can I clean the F1 Sims (or GP500)?

i just sprayed loads of ambersil 40 + (similar to wd40) into the wheel pot
(same as pedal pots), then rotated the pot for a few minutes to work the oil
in, now the pot doesnt wobble, cleaned the connections.  Ive been told this
was a bad idea (its non conductive oil apparently, but its non corrosive, so
all im woried about is the plastic), but i carried this out over 6 months
ago and havent had any problems whatsoever.

i claim no responsability for any actions...blah,blah,blah

you can buy new pots for the f1 sim for around 5 each i think...

Thank you now I'll go in that little black box with at least some clue of
what to use and what to do.

How to clean F1 Sim pots?

There was a discussion a few weeks (months?) ago about what to use to clean
pots. Some folks said that WD40 worked fine, however others suggested that
WD40 would lead to increased wear and a shorter life span, and that it would
be better to use a purpose cleaner. (this actually sparked quite a WD40 vs
Cleaner debate, search deja.com or remarq if you want the whole debate). I
use TV Tuner Cleaner from Radio Shack.  I've only had to use it once in the
last three months. Application is the same for WD40, spray loads of it into
the opening in the pot (keep a rag handy to soak up the excess) and work the
pot.

Sorry, I don't have specifics on the F1 Sim pots.

The only freak who said that was Y2k Rick.  Using WD40 to clean
potentiometers is not a good idea.  Simply buy a can of contact/head cleaner
at your local Radio Shack, you'll get much better results.

What my friends and I used to do was just get out a double LP, take a little
out of the baggie and crunch it up some between our fingers to loosen the
seeds, then drop it at the far end of one side.

Then you would form the LP into a"V" shape and sort of tap it to make the
seeds roll into the center.  If you saw little chunks with seeds still
embedded in them you would pick them up and crush them between your fingers
to free up those seeds.

When you were done, you could just scrape the clean stuff back into the bag
and pour off the seeds into another baggie or a film container for other
purposes.

Huh?...oh...POTS...

nevermind.
