Well, I finally got my copy of F1RS and like most of us, I'm
very pleased with it on my P200/32megs/Monster3d system. However, with
all this talk about Voodoo2 and the N2 patch and things of this nature I
couldnt help to think a couple things ;) Getn' my picture? F1 cruises
along very well on my system but god, it's going to be incredible seeing
F1 FLY along with a Voodoo2 card. Or better yet, Voodoo2/N2
3dfx.............   I recieved a substantialy larger Christmas bonus
this year, I'm very greatfull, I might add. So after all of the
Christmas shopping for my wife, parents, friends I decieded to take a
little over 300 out and transfer it into a separate savings account so
the dough would be there when V2 is released. Smart move, even the wife
agrees with me.......... Eeeehhh right! Anyway, what are some of your
guys's thoughts on the V2 and auto sims? I'm ready for it!

Well I'm tossed up about whether to get the early PCI part or wait for
the AGP part ... here is what I am wondering...  but the time the AGP
part comes out, AGP should be a 2x, right?  I thought the *real*
advantage of AGP didn't show up until 2x (that's 2 times or double
speed, not version 2).  I read in boot magazine that AGP 2x will have
"sideband" communications and that will allow something else to happen
that will blow our socks off.  Their advice:  Skip AGP 1x and wait for
2x.  There are also plans for a 4x version as well, but that's not until
1999.

So, why am I rambling about this?  We'll have a tough decision to make
-- get the early PCI part or wait for AGP late in the year.

And then of course, are you going for the 3d-only Voodoo-2 or are you
going to wait for Banshee (the 2d/3d part)?

If you want to know more about Voodoo2, the current issue of Boot
magazine has a nice writeup and next months is going to have more on the
next gen of 3d cards.

Me, I'll probably slip and get the PCI part...

I coulda sworn that they said AGP of V2 was only going to be a 1x
version.  Also, no SLI with the AGP's, only with the PCI version.

Well I can tell you for sure - NO SLI for Voodoo-2 AGP == because so
far, no one has created the technology (Bridge Chip, etc) to put more
than one AGP slot on a Mom-Board.
