Just a quick note for people wondering about the latest 29.42 drivers
(since nobody else seems to have posted so far.

System:  AMD 1.4 T-bird on 140fsb, GF3 Ti200, Abit KT7A-RAID, Win98SE
My *** follows whatever controller I have hooked up, so far
SBK2001, RC2000, F12001, GTV3, GPL all seem great.  Not a huge
improvement over 27.42, but things do seem a little bit quicker (28.32
were hopeless on a few games).  The visual quality improvement I've
seen mentioned seems to be there too (may be group-hysteria, though!)

Only other games I've tried are THPS3 and EAW, both great.  EFMI was
fine too - a cookie to the first to guess what that is ;).  My wheel
is coming off my desk since I had to fix an actuator spring in my AL
shifter.  I'll try a few FPS/strategy games and report back if
anyone's interested.

They also seem great for my XP box with a twinview GF2MX.  Certainly
made UT playable for that quick frag-break when I'm too lazy to fire
up the *** box.

29.42 been ok here, too.

No real speed increase.  Not much difference between this and 28.32.

Now, if only Microsoft/nVidia would solve the 60hz refresh rate problem in a
PROPER manner...  First, they have to acknowledge it exists, which we're
still waiting for after 2 years :(

Ditto. Speed went down just a touch, most people wouldn't even notice. IMO
Image qauilty went down just a touch, again probably wouldn't see it unless
you were loking for it.

I would hazard a guess that speed decreases or increases from near-similar
driver versions is more about the state of your system than the drivers.
If you have mucked up your driver installs or added/deleted lots of demo's
or tried different DX versions...then there is a good chance your system is
actually pretty well sludged up.  Then you drop in some new drivers, which
could possibly relieve some driver conflicts and WHAMMO!  You see these
great speed increases.
Similarly, if you had tweeked your settings and then added new drivers,
much of what you had would be reset to default values.   So suddenly guys
whose system ran XXX fast for the last 6 months only see XX speed with new
drivers.
Clearly some drivers are more effcient than others, and some appear to
work better with different OS's.  But on the whole I would think the state
of your system has much more impact on the performance of various driver
versions.
