OT Help, I need a Nvidia file!

by Tony Jeste » Sat, 17 Feb 2001 11:42:51

I just installed a brand new GeForce2 GTS video card and I tried 4 times
to download the Detonator 3 drivers from Nvidia, but each time I got a
CRC error for nvOpenGL.dll.  Could someone who has the Detonator 3
drivers please send me this file:

I SURE would appreciate it!  Wow, even with the drivers on the
installation CD the framerate increase from the 32 MB GeForce2 GTS is
astonishing!  Of course (I'm embarassed to admit I was still using a 8MB
Thriller 3D) but I went from an unplayable 18 FPS in in-car view with
all details turned to minimum to 40 FPS with most details turned up.
I'm just amazed at the difference $176  made!!!

There is a very large framerate difference between D3D and OpenGL.  I
don't really notice much in the way of difference between the two as far
as graphics, and I'm not having ANY flickering or other problems with
the video.

SoundBlaster Live! Value.  128Meg ram.

Ordered card yesterday at 1:30pm from www.sg3d.com, received it today at
11:00am.
It's a good place to buy from.  Bad news is I forgot to change GPL to
D3D before I installed the GeForce, now GPL won't run.  Guess I'll have
to re-install the Thriller and fix GPL.  Bummer.  Oh well, its worth the
trouble, I'm REALLY happy with the GeForce.  Please someone, send me
that file.  Thanks.

On the GPL front you don;t need to swap cards around.  First make sure you
have the D3D patch files installed.  Next make sure that your core.ini file
has the following info in it:

[ Int Profile Values ]
value3 = Direct3D7:D3DDevice:0
value4 = Direct3D7:TossHighestMip:0
value5 = Direct3D7:TrilinearFiltering:0
value6 = Direct3D7:DoubleMirrorResWidth:0
value7 = Direct3D7:DoubleMirrorResHeight:0
value8 = Direct3D7:DirectMirrorRendering:0
value9 = Direct3D7:DisableZBuffer:0

[ Direct3D7 ]
D3DDevice = 0
TossHighestMip = 0
TrilinearFiltering = 1
DoubleMirrorResWidth = 0
DoubleMirrorResHeight = 0
DirectMirrorRendering = 1
DisableZBuffer = 0

Finally, edit the file app.ini and edit the [ Graphics ] entry so that it
reads:

[ Graphics ]
lastRasterizerDLL = rastd3d7.dll         ; Last rasterizer DLL selected

This tells GPL to use the D3D rasteriser.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Phil for the info.

And never mind about the .DLL file, I've got it now, thanks.
