Bought this one yesterday, and modified it right away with
bhmotorsports all chassis patch. First impressions: Head and shoulders
above the betaish F1-2000 and GP3. Framerates are good at 800x600
2xFSAA, and the tracks looks very good. Driving school is also very
fun. Why couldn't they just release this game in the first place
without the F1-2000 embarrasment ? And PC Gamer UK's 40% is so
laughable that I did not renew my subscription...

But there are always some problems. Mine is that it is impossible to
start a race without getting thrown back to WinME, and sometimes it
does this when loading a track for testing too. Really annoying.

)drivers, WinME with DX8, SB Live Player.

Suggestions ?

Why couldn't they just release this game in the first place
The reason was TIME!  EA saw that GP3 would most likely MISS the start of
the season.  The bought the rights to scgt not to get the game, which they
quickly orphaned, but to get the prebuilt software engine.  Considering ISI
only had about 1 year to get F12k out the door, it was a pretty amazing
effort.
Then once 2k was done, they could spend some time polishing and adding
features that the release date didn't allow.

Rushing a game out the door is not the sort of "amazing effort" that I
appreciate.  And I think F1CS2000 seems a bit rushed as well.  The AI's
racing lines are awful, for one thing.  That pretty much ruins the game
right there, not to mention other problems.

I agree totally.  I'd rather have a game released late and actually
finished.  Who on this NG wants to see a half finished World Sports Cars get
released early?

It's companies like EA that give publishers such a bad reputation.  They
completely ruined Ultima 9 by insisting Origin release it before it had even
reached beta testing (under threat of cancelling the project).  It must be
hell to be a developer signed on with them.

Judging from the demo, graphics look the same, framerate is just about the
same.  Single track looks about the same.  AI improved.  They don't give
access to the Driving School mode, but while perhaps a nice addon, that isn't
what I'd buy an F1 sim for.  I don't see how this can be described as "head
and shoulders" above its predecessor.  Again, based on the demo.  Haven't seen
anyone say the full game is *that* much better.  Do you think so?

Time, money.competition.  And now they seem to be getting a fair number of
people to have paid them twice.

   yup some have...not me...I waited...:)  same with gp2.5.  I'll wait for a
real update...but in the  meantime....a CART sim would be nice....
