Just decided to pick it up after trying the demo and reading some
comments here...

Neither Electronics Boutique nor Babbages has it any longer.. EB says it
has been discontinued and Babbages says it has been recalled...

Anyone know what's going on?

I recently saw a couple of hundred copies in the bargain bins at Fry's
listed at $9.99.

We don't have Fry's here... (new jersey).. oh well, guess I'll keep an eye

You could also try Best Buy - I've seen copies at my local store. Pretty
sure it's also available in one of EA Sports' racing collections with 2
other titles - might be your best bet.

don't worry, in the software business, 'recalled' almost never means
what it does in the manufacturing world. Here the term recalled almost
certainly means the full price package has been pulled from distribution
and repackaged in groupware or discount paks.
SCGT is an imperfect sim, but it can be made MUCH better. Here are
the steps.
A: apply the official 1.551 patch.
B: get and use the Advanced Options Editor(every time you boot it)
C: download the SP3.0 & SP3.1
D: Download the ALMS patch
E: Download the Alldash patch
F: Download the dozens if not hundreds of unique "home built"
cars that are now available for SCGT
E: Download AT LEAST the Silverstone converted track.(there are a few
others)
F: Hunt all over the net for missing sounds, files and other nick
nacks that make SCGT the best durn RPG racing game around.

It's all over the place in the bargain bins here in Toronto....even places
like Costco and Wal-mart.

By the way, it's the best quality racing title in the bargain bin by
far--and a lot better than many of the full-priced titles.

I have heard two ways...Everytime... and everytime you have made a
change...like added cars, added cars, added cars...so for me. it was
almost everytime. better safe than sorry.

I saw it at a Staples in Hamilton about a month ago for $15 Canadian. I
didn't buy it then, and when I went back to get it less than a week later,
they didn't have any more copies. Let me know if you find it cheap in the
area.
