Problem with GPL online?

by Cossi » Fri, 11 Feb 2000 04:00:00

After 1 hour of practice at Monza, I decided to try my luck at VROC. To my
surprise, i went my fastest time in qual at 1:30:2x. But my problem came in
the race. As the race went on, I can ehar the hard drive keep ticking. When it
takes, my screen slows. sometimes it only click for less than 1 sec, sometimes
2 or 3, you guys know what's going on?

I have a P3-500, resources shouldn't be a problem, what do u guys think?

Just AOL instant messager and my normal internet program. I have 64 megs of
RAM

the problem seem to get worse as the race went on, might be replay buffer or
modem connection?!?

If I'm not mistaken, It's the replay buffer.  Your system is setup to
hold x amount of data in RAM, when that gets full, it takes that data
and writes it to the disk and repeats the sequence.

Fix?  Over ride the default replay buffer size to hold more replay
before it writes it to disk.  This will lengthen the time between disk
access's.  You can read more about this on the VROC site.  Replay
override or some header like that.

I'm just guessing though,
Mike

Hi Michael!

Should one really increase the replaylenght? I have 64 Mb RAM and have had some
problem with paging when driving races. Well I would like to give this a shot but
how much memory should I dedicate?

/Roger
