GPL Online: Problem with cable modem

by Daniel Lichtenberge » Mon, 29 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,
I just wanted to try GPL 1.2 online (GSB 2 Beta) with my new cable
modem - and it didn't work (it did some months ago with Sygate over a
56k connection).
My GPL computer has two network cards - one for the cable modem (PCI),
one for the LAN connection (ISA). When joining a game via GSB, GPL
starts, but fails to open a network connection (timeout).
I think my problem is that GPL doesn't choose the correct network card
for internet play: when selecting the device I wanna play on (in the
GPL multiplayer screen), I only get the LAN-card ("TCP/IP something at
192.168.0.2"). However, the IP address below is determined correctly
(212.x.x.x). How can I tell GPL to use the other network card? I read
through the Online section of vroc.net, but didn't find something
related to my problem.
Multiplayer over the internet works ok with other games (eg DTR Demo,
Unreal Tournament Demo, AoE 2).

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Daniel

Add this to your core.ini file:

[ Communications ]
alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1             ; Find IP addresses another way
