That's cos it's vapourware. Which doesn't mean it won't *eventually*
turn up, but most (not all) programs that are years late turn out to be
disappointments or worse (GP3, Daikatana, Battlecruiser 3000AD...).

Something that eventually turns up doesn't fit my definition of vapourware.

Please don't compare the West Brothers to Derek Smart.  No really, that's
quite harsh.

Linked very clearly from the main empireinteractive site too.  I had
gone there just a few months ago and couldn't find any info on the
game, so I *THINK* that info was just added to the site.  Regardless,
it looks like the game is definitely a go, especially since Empire has
removed a bunch of stuff from their gamezone but WSC is still there.

Also, in addition to my previous post.

I've only found one reference in google to the game being canceled and
it was a rumor posted on fatbabies.com.  The PR exec from Empire
actually responded to the rumor:

-----
11/28 Empire Interactive Responds

Empire Interactive's PR Manager wrote in to dispell the 11/14 Rumor
about the cancellation of their World Sports Car racing game.

Dear Mr Fatbango
Just been reading the rumour re: the west racing game from Empire
Interactive. Mmmmm, interesting coz I didn't know anything about it
and I'm
the PR Manager!!!!

I've checked it out and this sroty appears to be false. Completely.
Dunno
where this came from but, for the record, World Sports Cars (please be
advised that this is still a working title and may change for the
final
product) IS being developed for PC, PS2 and X Box. It HASN'T been
canned for any of the afformentioned platforms and I've just sent some
screnshots out to the PS2 and X Box magazines for inclusion into their
2002 roundups!!! We never once mentioned that the game was too
sim-like. Hell, Empire has made a name for itself producing some of
the best selling and most respected flight sims around at the momend
(Battle of Britain, Apache Havoc anyone?) so it seems kinda daft that
a company best known for producing flight sims should get shirty about
a driving sim being too "realistic" dontcha think???

Anyway I was wondering, Mr Fatbango sir, whether you could print a
counter rumour to the effect that the original rumour was complete
bollocks??

Right then, I'll be off. Keep on diggin the dirt.

Cheers.

We can argue about the state of the product (term used in it's broadest
sense) when it was released, but it was released, we even sold a few
copies ......I still have one unopened box stored somewhere, been saving
it so I can give it away for a special occasion <BEG>

As for WSC, I'll believe it when I see it, I hope it get released
though, because even though I don't care much for WSC as such, it might
just be what the sim racing world needs and according to rumors they are
very open to the idea of 3rd party mods and what not, so maybe somebody
will turn it onto and AussieV8 sim....

*We* even sold a few copies? Are you Goy Smart by any chance? Or just someone
who has to unload it.

BC3000 doesn't work on Win2000, so I never got to see it when I downloaded a few
months ago. :-(

*We* as in the people running this computer shop :-), actually the
people who bought it didn't give us a hard time at all, probably because
they anticipated a "few" problems with it, and only one person out of
the 10 or so who bought it asked for his money back
