RBR playable without split axis ???

by Ian Riche » Fri, 10 Sep 2004 16:31:30

Dear All,

I'm *very* tempted by RBR, but unfortunately by wheel does not
support split axis.  This has proved to be a major frustration to me
in Rally Trophy, and I suspect it may well be the same in RBR.

Anyone out there playing it without split axis and having a good
time?

Alternatively, does anyone know of a wheel with split axis that *does
not need to use pedals*?  Unfortunately my PC setup leaves no room
for pedals (short of moving house, which is probably a bit more than
I could convince my wife to spend to solve the problem.)

Thanks,

Ian

It's not 100% necessary but it does help quite a bit.  What do you currently
use for throttle/brake?

I've got an ancient thrustmaster wheel that has two paddles and four
buttons.  The paddles are used for throttle/brake.  I normally use
two of the buttons for gear up/down, one for handbrake and the other
for whatever seems good at the time....

Mine's split axis, but I just don't like lfb and don't use it.  Am
absolutely hooked.  I don't think it particularly slows me down either,
generally slaughter the 'medium' difficulty unless I hit a tree ;)

A quick touch of the handbrake going into any of the slower corners,
plenty of scandinavian flicking, and lots of throttle.  Every time I try
lfb it just slows me down and stuffs me up, and I prefer the feel of
shifting my right foot around anyway.
