With the gear ratio I have uploaded, the red light flickers briefly for
me before I have to start braking.

When I said I made the gears a tad longer, I didn't mean I made them
_too_ long. I just made them a tad longer because with the previous
ratios I had to go too far into the 'red light zone' before I got to the
brake point.

And don't forget, I touch the redline without any other cars around. In
the race you will need _some_ margin for draft situations!

What I meant is that I only use 6th once during the entire lap (as opposed
to "from time to time" as you said). I hit 178 before braking on the long
backstretch, and the rev limiter seems to be at the correct position. I
agree with what Joachim said. If the gear was any shorter, there would
probably be a problem if you were in traffic on that section of the track.

We may very well be running that track with the TA cars at some point during
the Cup season, so I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Achim, is your Sebring replay with the tape at 70 or 65?

The reason I'm asking is that in your replay the temp is over 220 & the temp
lite comes on on the long backstretch, after only 2-3 laps?

That must have been with the tape set to 70 (using the test setup).
The 65 should be safe to use for the race.

I just went back to Sebring to be sure, and did a few more laps.

With 70o, the red light came on occasionally as early as in lap 2, also
more often than I'd remembered. It's definitely good to have it set to
65 for the race if the outside temp is 70o. The host might even set it
to 60, it doesn't change the behaviour of the car in any way, it just
gives an additional safety margin (although not needed according to my
testing).

I've also uploaded a new replay, if anyone's interested.

I don't try to, but since I generally suck at road courses (though I'm
better after the off-season stuff), it's usually not my doing LOL!

Be advised, you must pick up your Boat Anchor in the pits prior to exiting
for the race.

Since I actually enjoyed that track, I was going to do two things to the
setup:

1.  Fix the blasted brake bias :)
2.  Either extend 3rd gear or shorten 4th gear for the esses to get rid of
the shift required through that stretch and up to the slow right-handers.

Maybe tighten up the sway-bars a bit to get the car to not wallow as much.

Other than that, I was pretty happy with it.

Blasphemy!

:)

But if we must run a road coarse for whatever reason (I suspect you're
talking about an off-weekend for NASCAR), then it's a good choice :)

Ok, thx.

By the way, I'm doing better (1:59.4xx) w/ your setup after some practice...
I guess it's ok  ;o)
