Is it just me or does the spotter really sound just like Dale Jarret? I
would have thought it was him for sure, but I saw the guy's name listed
in the credits and it wasn't Dale.

and....
Too bad Papy didn't use simple to get at .wav files for the voice stuff.
We could have a blast changing it to someone's else's voice for fun.
Beavis and Butthead come to mind. "Hehehehehe, there's a really
cool wreck in turn 3, hehehehehe, you're screwed..... heheheheheh"

Just takin a break from N2,

Actually, he sounds almost exactly like Ned Jarrett. I love this
feature...rather than speaking in monotone the whole time your spotter
will get upset with you, cheer you on, etc.  This is by far the best
feature added to N2..although all the tracks are incredibly realistic
graphically.

I am sure we will find out in time how to do this.  /THansen

Actually, I thought it was Ned Jarret. Never heard Dale that much, since he
is usually behind the wheel.

Gotta agree with you on the spotter bit. In Richmond I went low to pass a
car coming out of turn 4, lost it and ran straight into the pit wall. The
spotter asked me if I was allright then in a dejected sounding voice said
'well, that's the end of our day'. Kinda almost felt guilty about wrecking,
Then I said oh well and started another race. Hey, I don't have to pay for
the cars I wreck (fortunately). In another race (can't remember which track)
some cars spun in front of me and as I somehow wound my way between them
(even after watching the replay I was amazed I made it through) but the
spotter kept yelling and sounded slightly panicked until I made it through.
The spotter definately makes it more fun. Of course the better frame rates
I'm getting help alot too :)

I thought it sounded more like Glenn Jarrett myself (TNN, Dale's bro).

The spotter/crew chief voice is Ronald Gaines, a friend of Bobby Labonte.
I hope this helps,

I can picture the add-on wav file hacks now! <grin> that would be
worth a good laugh once in a while!

The spotter's voice is supposedly that of Ronald Gaines, someone that
was recommended by Bobby Labonte.
(forgot where I read this info, sorry)

No, I don't think he sounds like Dale Jarrett.  If anything he sounds
more like Glenn Jarrett, Dale's brother.

But I have a question for you.  Why would they use a NASCAR driver as
the voice?  An experienced spotter in real life would be a better
choice.

I too wish they had used .wav files.  Then we could at least replace
Gaines' voice for the crew cheif messages to someone else.  It would've
been nice if they used 2 spotters at certain really large tracks.  No
increased overhead so they can't claim they ran out of time.

Six straight hours behind the wheel in N2. Please forgive....
