NASCAR restrictor plate ?????

When I started to use ver 121 of NASCAR the speed really dropped. I have since
found out that the restrictor plate was added. Is it legal to run with the
restrictor plate off on Hawaii? If so what is to be edited to remove it.

                                        Thanks gwc

The restricter plate WAS in the original version. It's just that your
speeds were slower in the NEWER version!

Another thing, YOU CAN'T RUN IN HAWAII with the plates OFF. But here's
how ya take em off. Go to you NASCAR dir. Then go to your TRACKS dir.
Then go to Taladega dir. Then double click on Taladega.txt. Go to the
line called SPDWY and change the FIRST 1 to a 0. Save it and your
ready to race plateless! DO ALL OF THIS IN FILE MANAGER or WINDOWS
EXPLORER!

Actually, the plate was there in the original version.  The only thing that
changed in 1.2 was a reduced speed to more realistically reflect restrictor
plate speeds.

The 1.21 version did not add the restrictor plates.  They were always
there.  It did however reduce the engines power at the super speedways
to be more "realistic".

It is illegal to run without restrictor plates on Hawaii.  It is so
illegal you will be booted out.  Not penalty, no fine.  However, put the
plate back on, you can race.

To remove the plate, edit the *.txt file for the track in question.
Change the 1 on the line SPDWAY to a 0.

I seem to remember averaging well over 200 mph at Talladega with the
original version of the game.  If that's not 'unrestricted' racing, I
don't know what is.

Kyle, Kyle, Kyle.  Yes, the original version DID have the restrictor plate
installed.  Papyrus just had the engine power screwed up where you COULD do
200 mph.  Don't believe me?  Reinstall the sim from scratch, and run a lap at
Talladega.  You'll do about 202-204.  Now remove the restrictor plate and run.
If you've got it setup right, you'll do around 220.

Incidentally, in 1990, Bill Elliott won the pole for the Winston 500 at a
speed of 199.2** mph.  That was with a 15/16ths restrictor plate.  During the
race, Dale Earnhardt, while leading the race, ran a lap at just over 200 mph.
So, in reality, the WC cars HAVE done 200 mph with a restrictor plate.  Oh
yeah, at the next restrictor plate race (the Pepsi 400 at Daytona) the plate
was smaller--29/32nds.

If you hack the restrictor plate off at Talladega, you will not be
able to race on Hawaii... we won't even let you on the track.

Kinda works like Winston Cup, huh?
