Kyle, Kyle, Kyle. Yes, the original version DID have the restrictor plate
installed. Papyrus just had the engine power screwed up where you COULD do
200 mph. Don't believe me? Reinstall the sim from scratch, and run a lap at
Talladega. You'll do about 202-204. Now remove the restrictor plate and run.
If you've got it setup right, you'll do around 220.
Incidentally, in 1990, Bill Elliott won the pole for the Winston 500 at a
speed of 199.2** mph. That was with a 15/16ths restrictor plate. During the
race, Dale Earnhardt, while leading the race, ran a lap at just over 200 mph.
So, in reality, the WC cars HAVE done 200 mph with a restrictor plate. Oh
yeah, at the next restrictor plate race (the Pepsi 400 at Daytona) the plate
was smaller--29/32nds.
