Do you really see an improvement if framerates when going to the low
resolution? I had a similar configuration only with a Voodoo 1 and
64Meg, and going from 640 to 800 wasn't all that much of a difference.

Try 3DFX reference drivers or you may need to put an older glide.dll
version in the GPL directory.

Shot in the dark --> has the refresh setting at 512 been changed to a
setting incompatible with your monitor?  Or has your monitor setting
gotten changed?  I know about once a month out of the blue, I'll boot up
& my normal 1024x768 desktop will be 640x480 instead!  For whatever
reason it changes the setting for my ViewSonic to just "unknown
monitor".  A quick reboot, & I'm back to normal.  Good Luck!

Sounds like a problem with your refresh rates.  Check your monitor and video
adapter settings to ensure that the refresh rates are set appropriately.

Could it be that you start the PC with the monitor switched off, that can
cause it.

Not *real* likely, but anything's possible.  I'll have to pay better
attention whenever it happens again.
