I posted this on the 23rd but the message did not show up in my news!!

I have just tried to reinstall GPL however after the wav test, I get a 'Your
CD is not Valid,  see program vendor' message and the
installation aborts!
I uninstalled the original GPL including the Sierra utilities...........
same
result.
This was a thread a while back, but i can not find it!
it is an original UK papyrus cd!
any help or ideas please?

GPL's copy protection had trouble with some CD players, another player might
work. And if you have more than one CD player in your system, install from
the one with the lowest driver letter.

Had the same problem, but I made a copy of the original cd with nero (no
problems, you only have to use a 700MB cd rom) and that cd worked fine for
the second installation. Then, after the complete installation, the old
original cd was found ok for starting the game. May be, by the often using,
it is defect in some sectors, the install routine uses first.

As mentioned in another reply, some CD players have problems with
the copy protection (which involves null files which have a
'virtual' size bigger than a CD's capacity).

If starting the game doesn't try to read these files, the
original CD will probably be fine.

So, let me see... they copy-protected the game, which *forced* me
to visit Gamecopyworld and copy my legit CD in order to play it...

Duh!
