driver. Consistent I try for, but the speed has come very slowly for me. I
have used the Hine partnership's generic GRE set-ups (the ones described in
the help), which have been great mostly because the car feels the same at
every track. It doesn't take long to learn a new track well when the car is
behaving predictably. These set-ups have been a godsend to me and, save for
not getting around to the 'Ring long enough to do a decent lap (it was going
to be a project for last summer's holiday's), my GPL Rank would be 0.
I recently read that Roland's ("RE") set-ups were great for those wanting
fast, but not Alien set-ups. I have tried several of his set-ups in the
past couple of weeks and within minutes set new personal bests. So far so
good...
What I am wondering is whether there are any set-ups faster than the GRE
ones, but that remain symmetrical. Asymmetrical set-ups always make me
uncomfortable, despite being able to set better times with Roland's, e.g.
When things get squirrelly, I have a harder time recovering because the car
isn't as "normal" as I would expect. Of course, that's the point of those
set-ups--they are faster if you drive properly, but I am still prone to the
mistake or two :)
If no one has Roland-like symmetrical set-ups, what small tweaks should be
done to Alison's set-ups to make them a bit faster (and a bit harder to
drive, presumably)? I am talking 1 or 2% here, nothing radical.
And lastly, I think Roland's set-ups were done pre-GRE. Would they benefit
from lowering the bump stops down to .5"?
Thank you immensely to anyone who can give any advice!!
