Rally Trophy Question

by bertr » Wed, 20 Feb 2002 07:44:30

I posted this question about a week ago, but got no answers, so thought
I'd try again.  I think that I'm missung something obvious, as nobody
else has posted any problems with this.  Any help would be appreciated
-----:

After reading good reviews about Rally Trophy here (especially
post-patch), and with it's imminent release in North America, I thought
that I'd try the demo.  Unfortunately, I can't get my controllers set up

properly, and I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

First off, I have an LWFF on ID1 and TSW peds on ID3.  Both are
recognized in the controller screen of Rally Trophy Demo, and I have no
trouble assigning various functions to the wheel, buttons and pedals.
However, when I start a race (specifically a Time Trial -- I haven't
tried anything else), the starter counts down, I can put the car in
gear, but then nothing happens.  The pedals are totally dead -- no
response at all.  This happens whether I try using the TSW pedals or the

LWFF pedals.

Ideally, I'd love to get this working with with 2 separate controllers
(or even three, as I also have the GPL USB shifter on ID 2, but haven't
tried activating it with this demo yet.)   But right now, I'd settle on
just getting it to work with the LWFF pedals using split axis.  I tried
hitting the reset button in the controller menu, in order to get split
axis (I read about this "trick" somewhere), but that made no difference.

Can someone help me in getting either set of pedals to work properly
with the LWFF wheel?  I want to give this demo a good tryout before
deciding whether to buy the retail game.

Thanks!
Bert

I don't think that you'll be lucky with this in the demo ... The game has just been patched and the controller support is better than it was, but to be honest, it ain't great.  Why can't people develop games where the controller set-up is like GPL ... show us the controllers, which axis they use and then let us assign them to stuff?

Anyway, the full game may be your only option - just take it back if it don't work.  Sorry, about that!

Cheers,

No luck with TSW / split axis. Just like F1 2001 the only way
to get it to work is to "downgrade" your setup to combined
axis.

Well, I've gotten split axis to work on F1 2001 with no problem.  In fact,
I've gotten F12001 to recognize both controllers simultaneously, as well.

I'd love to get this to work with RT as well, even without multiple
controllers.  (I'd be happy to just get split-axis to work with the LWFF!)

I got F1 2001 to recognize the split axis BUT I only get the last 50% of
the pedal travel.  That is something I'm gonna have to experiement
with...probably CTFJ or something like it...
