Question: oldschool racing/sim??

by Bra » Mon, 31 May 2004 17:18:49

For my work I'm kind of stuck on a deserted island
with an old P2-366MHz laptop with 128Mb RAM and XP...
what would be the most enjoyable racer/simulator I
could run on that PC?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

N 3 and Nascar Legends may be border line but give it a try... GP 2
definately will...I used to run that on a P1 90 Mhz..
GPL "may" run but you may have trouble with it if you have a video card 32
Mb or less...It was impossible for me to run an entire race until I got a 64
Mb card.
Indy car 2 if you could find it as well as MS Precision racing but you may
have config problems running under XP
Hope this helps,
Timmy

>Laptop that old running XP....NONE

It would run XP fine, but with 128MB RAM, it won't do much else on top
with much speed.

Seriously - give Viper Racing a try. It was very resource-efficient. I think
I remember frame rates of about 100 on a P2 overclocked to 392MHz (Riva 128,
if I remember correctly).

I have an old 300Mhz ThinkPad 600e with XP on it.  Once it boots it's not
too bad :)

It only has 96MB of RAM.

I wouldn't want it as a primary machine, though :)

It's a work back-up.

I second the motion :-P  My dad had Viper Racing running on his 266Mhz system.
Ran very well actually.

Ok.. great! I'll go try and find it. Shouldn't be too expensive
anymore I guess :)

Thanks!
