N4 AND WINDOWS 2000

Running N4 on a dual box under win 2k. I have a Guillemot Muse sound
card. It played the test sound apon installation fine. In the game,
the car engine sounds like a lawn mower or a plane buzzing around. All
the other sounds play OK. I tried fooling around with the core.ini
settings  and the in-game setting but nothing works. It's really
terrible.

BTW, so far under SMP I get 35 or so FPS test driving around at
Daytona at
1024x768 and 16 bit using a TNT2 Ultra. I'm runing two P2 333's
overclocked to 500 and 327 mb PC-100 ram.

On my other box, a AMD 750 T-Bird overclocked to 1090, 512 mb PC-133
running at 145 cas2 using a Geforce DDR, I get around 40-42 test
driving at daytona same res and bit.

I hoped it would do better under SMP. Is there a special switch
needed to start it up under SMP or is it automatically detected?

BTW, any advice on my sound problem in win 2k?
